noonartsound - World War I

Tuesday, March 6, 2018 - Noon to 1pm   LIB 108

Art historian, Shelly Nordtorp-Madson, describes her presentation this way: "During any world-wide conflagration, such as World War I, major changes take place. The role of women, no longer house-bound, also led to changes in how they dressed. The contradictions between more comfortable corseting and the hobble skirt are also reflected in art movements, where some artists prefer traditionalism to others who satirize the war or move off in non-realistic directions."

Musicians Joan Griffith and Chris Kachian will present Argentine tangos and Ragtime music prevalent during this era.

noonartsound talks this spring will speak about some of the music and art that accompanied times of war - World War I, World War II, and the Vietnam War.   All noonartsound presentations are free and open to the public.

Refreshments are provided - we hope you will join us!
